What is the Reference Group?

Here at NHS Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale we are constantly striving to improve the services we deliver. To do this we want to involve real people, who have experienced our services and can give us honest and relevant feedback on what we do, how we do it and where we can improve. Our Reference Groups are made up of people who would like to evaluate existing services and explore ideas for new services, ensuring that the services we provide meet patient’s needs and requirements.

Why does NHS Heywood Middleton & Rochdale need an Reference Group?

Reference Groups are important to us as they enable us to shape and deliver services that meet the needs of our population, enhancing how we provide local NHS services.

How does the Reference Group work?

Our reference groups will be made up of people from the local community who have experience of the NHS. Members will be asked to attend meetings or workshops regarding a specific service or area of health within the NHS. Members will be asked to contribute opinions and experiences of these services and provide comments and suggestions on how NHS Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale should progress.

Do I have to attend every Reference Group meeting/workshop?

You will be informed of upcoming events and your attendance will be requested by post, email or telephone. However, members are not required to attend all meetings and workshops. Just attend the ones of most interest to you.

How will my efforts make a difference?

All of the input we receive from our Reference Group members will be anonymised before it is made available to staff within the NHS who are responsible for developing and improving services. The improvements made will make a difference to all our patients, carers, their friends, family and members of the community. By acting as a voice for these people you will help shape the services they receive ultimately making a huge difference to the lives of people in the Borough.
